CARE International is deeply concerned about a new Ebola virus outbreak in the North East of D.R.Congo, risking the lives of 300,000 Congolese. 37 cases, including 22 deaths, have been reported so far. Even though this is the tenth Ebola outbreak in the country since 1976, this time fears for an unprecedented expansion rise.

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Lombok yesterday at 18:45 local time, killing at least 91 people and injuring hundreds. Thousands of people have been injured and thousands have been displaced. Rescuers are still trying to reach some hard-hit areas to conduct loss and damage assessments.

Almost two months after an offensive on the Yemen port city of Hodeidah began, last night airstrikes hit a fish market and the entrance to a hospital, injuring up to 70 people and killing at least 20, including medical staff.

Inter-communal violence along the borders of Gedeo (SNNPR*) and West Guji (Oromia) zones has led to large-scale displacements, damage of properties and loss of life. As of July 14, over 1 million people are estimated to be displaced (822,187 people in Gedeo and 190,000 in West Guji zones).
