Since 25 August 2017, around 706,000 refugees from Myanmar have fled to Bangladesh. Over 900,000 refuges are now living in Cox’s Bazar (ISCG Report, 19 July 2018), including those who arrived before the exodus.
Since the beginning of this year, over 800,000 people have fled the violence in Ethiopia. In total, around one million people are estimated to be internally displaced in the country. Houses and major infrastructure have been severely damaged. More than 200 people have lost their lives. “This is a massive humanitarian crisis totally off the radar of the international community.

More than 160,000 people have been displaced, dozens killed and attacked as tensions are rising in the South-West and North-West Regions of Cameroon. A total of 3.5 million inhabitants are affected by this crisis - 16% of Cameroon population.

Intense fighting in southern Syria has displaced some 330,000 people and has led to dozens of deaths, including among women and children, since 17 June. This is the largest displacement in the south since the conflict began more than seven years ago.
The global humanitarian organization CARE is encouraged by the ceasefire announced this week by warring factions in the world’s youngest country, South Sudan, particularly the portion of the agreement calling for opening up corridors of humanitarian aid. The ceasefire is due to begin June 30, and the parties are committed to finalizing four outstanding issues in the security arrangements by that point.
