"Aware of an earthquake that had struck moments earlier, Robin Needham rushed to the beach imploring others to get away from the shoreline on the island of Phuket, Thailand. He was still there when a massive wave inundated the coastline. Robin, Country Director of CARE Nepal, perished in the tsunami that devastated the shores of Indonesia, Thailand and other adjacent countries. It was December 26th, 2004.
International star Beyoncé, the United Nations and humanitarian aid organizations have launched a global campaign to shine a spotlight on humanitarian work and encourage people around the world to get involved by doing something good for others. CARE, and other NGOs are part of the campaign and join hands for World Humanitarian Day on August 19, the global day to celebrate humanity and the spirit of people helping people.

Now I’m a governance advisor for a project called Tufaidike wote which means ‘win-win’ in our local language. Overall I’ve been working in humanitarian affairs for twelve years.
