As of 8 October, a total of 519,000 people have fled to Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh following an escalation of violence in Myanmar. (Source: ISCG Report, 8 Oct). They need shelter, food, clothes, clean water, sanitation and health services.
The majority of refugees – 80% - are women and children. More than 150,000 children have taken shelter in Cox’s Bazar. A large number of children suffer from malnutrition and need immediate health services. More than 100,000 children require support to continue with their education. On the other hand, more than 24,000 pregnant women need maternity care and 55,000 pregnant women require emergency nutrition support.
