With the NGO coalition Generation Nutrition, CARE International developed a policy briefing calling on the European Union to make financial and policy commitments to step up efforts to eradicate hunger.
The 2021 Nutrition Year of Action offers many opportunities to commit resources for improved nutrition outcomes, such as the UN Food Systems Summit, the COP26 and ultimately the Nutrition for Growth (N4G) Summit. The renewal of the EU’s engagement in the fight against malnutrition through ambitious financial and policy commitments is a prerequisite towards ensuring prosperous lives and a healthy planet, in line with the SDGs.
This paper calls on the EU to make a commitment to 1.9 billion for basic nutrition interventions for the years 2021-2027, and to ensure that 60% of relevant sectors are nutrition-sensitive by design by 2027.
