CARE International Sexual Harassment, Exploitation and Abuse (SHEA) Transparency Report 2022 - 2023

CARE places human dignity at the centre of its relief and development work, and as a global confederation. With a presence in over 100 countries, we recognise the importance of organisational culture and accountability in creating a safe and supportive environment for our staff, partners, and the communities with whom we work. At CARE, we believe that all people have the right to live their lives free from sexual harassment, exploitation, and abuse, and that no child should be subjected to abuse of any form.

Every report of sexual misconduct that we receive is carefully examined and, when required, investigated in ways that take into consideration the rights and interests of the survivor. We take swift and appropriate disciplinary action where this is needed.

To fulfill our transparency commitments, since 2017 CARE has published annual data on allegations of sexual harassment, exploitation and abuse, and child abuse. Our previous annual reports were published on a calendar year basis. However, we have now aligned this information with other reports per fiscal year. This report contains information about all incidents across the 18-month period of January 2022 to June 2023.

Three people sit at a desk together and review feedback. There are large papers on the nearby walls showing handwritten comments about CARE feedback.
