CARE International’s history in Guinea
CARE started working in Guinea in the 1990s to support refugees fleeing conflict in neighboring Liberia and Sierra Leone.
We supported refugee camps in partnership with the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) until 2001.
Today, CARE works in Guinea through our Côte d’Ivoire office and local partner organizations.
CARE and partners’ work in Guinea today
CARE works with local partners to support communities in Guinea, with a focus on helping people increase their incomes and develop new skills.
We focus on:
Crisis response
We help families affected by displacement and migration to meet their most urgent needs.
Making the economy work for women
We support women and families to improve their livelihoods, including training in trades such as food, fish, transport, catering, spare parts, and poultry production.
Focus on women and girls
Women and girls are at the center of CARE Guinea’s work. CARE supports women and young people to build skills and improve access to livelihood opportunities.
