Right now, the CARE team in Gaza and the West Bank are working around the clock. Against incredible odds. Against incredible personal fear for their own safety and that of their families. They have been able to secure and help distribute much-needed water supplies to families fleeing violence and dignity kits for displaced women and girls. They told me that, as they were handing over the precious water bottles, it was the first time they saw children smiling since this violence began, ten days ago.
My colleagues are showing relentless humanitarian spirit and dedication. But they are significantly hampered by the ongoing fighting, which is making it nearly impossible to continue responding consistently and effectively. We urgently call for a ceasefire in Gaza, and an assurance of immediate humanitarian access to all innocent civilians in line with international humanitarian law.
