New governance leaders for CARE International

CARE International is pleased to share its new leadership within its governance.

Mr. Luis Montoya Tillit has assumed the role of Assembly Chair and Dr. Claudia Warning is Assembly Vice Chair. The Assembly is  the supreme authority of CARE International (CI) and helps to steer the Confederation towards its mission of fighting poverty and social injustice, putting gender equality and women and girls at the center. Mr. Montoya Tillit and Dr. Warning are Chairs of their own Boards of CARE International Members – Mr. Montoya Tillit is Chair of CARE Peru and Dr. Warning is Chair of CARE Deutschland.

“We are deeply honored and humbled to have been entrusted by the Members of the CI Assembly with the highest governance leadership positions of our Confederation. We bring our experience and a passion and commitment to the whole of CARE International and its Vision of a world where poverty has been overcome and people live in dignity and security. Our Assembly will provide governance oversight, strategic foresight and ensure we all are accountable to our Vision and agreements,” said Mr. Montoya Tillit.

To support the work of the Assembly, CARE International has created an Executive Committee, which is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of strategic, operational, legal and financial activities of the Confederation. CARE International’s new Executive Committee is comprised of National Directors/CEOs from seven  CARE International Members - Barbara Grantham (CARE Canada), Ketevan Khachidze (CARE Caucasus), Rasmus Jakobsen (CARE Danmark),  Hlima Razkaoui (CARE Moroc), Reintje van Haeringen (CARE Nederland), Michelle Nunn (CARE USA), and Promboon Panitchpakdi (Raks Thai Foundation). At the start of her role as Chair of the Executive Committee, Ms. van Haeringen said:

“In the challenging and rapidly changing global context we all find ourselves in, the Executive Committee is very committed to progress our collective work on becoming a locally led and globally connected network, while paying particular attention to enabling the work that CARE’s extraordinary teams deliver throughout the world in close collaboration with partners and communities to further increase our impact”.
