What CARE International does in Uganda

CARE International has worked in Uganda since 1969.

In recent years, Uganda has taken in more than 1 million refugees and asylum-seekers from neighboring countries experiencing conflict and famine. On top of this, Uganda is at risk of outbreaks of diseases like cholera, malaria, and Ebola.

CARE Uganda supports refugees by delivering gender-responsive humanitarian assistance emphasizing disaster preparedness, inclusiveness, resilience humanitarian development nexus, and localization. We also focus on preventing and responding to gender-based violence and improving access for women and girls to sexual, reproductive, and maternal health.
